Notice of Environmental Report | May 15, 2026

The District hired Forensic Analytical Consulting Services (FACS), a nationwide environmental health and industrial hygiene consulting firm to assist with expressed mold concerns. FACS has provided a brief summary of their findings in advance of providing a written report. In maintaining transparency with the public, we are sharing their summary here.

FACS reviewed prior reports and conducted a survey of school staff to identify areas of concern. Next, they conducted inspections of the identified areas. In the course of the inspections, visible mold was found and air samples were collected in rooms 1, 4, 6, 8, 12, 13, MPR, and K1. In addition, air samples were collected from rooms 10, 15, front office, K3, and K4 based on evidence of water intrusion and concern for potential hidden mold. The mold found was generally above ceiling tiles or behind wallpaper. The indoor air sample results were not elevated compared to outdoor controls, with the exception of room 8. The initial sample from room 8 found a slight initial elevation, which may have been due to the movement of the wallpaper during the inspection process. HEPA air filter units were placed in room 8 and follow up air sampling results were not elevated.

The District is currently working with FACS to develop a plan for professional mold remediation during the summer break. Despite the favorable air quality results, portable HEPA air filter units have been placed in the subject areas to help maintain acceptable indoor air quality levels until remediation can occur this summer.
