Public Safety: Law Enforcement
Pathway I:
Law Enforcement I
Recommended Prerequisite: None

This course is designed to train a student for entry-level positions in private security or public law enforcement agencies. Instruction includes history and philosophy of law enforcement, ethical practices, theories of crime and punishment, professionalism, report writing, interpretation of radio and penal codes, search and seizure techniques, gang awareness, patrol tactics and techniques, and moral aspects.
Pathway II:
Correction and Securities

This course is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in protective services through classroom instruction and hands-on training that focuses on ensuring the general safety and well-being of the community. Course content includes an overview and history of the corrections system, punishment of offenders, detention and short-term incarceration, probation, intermediate sanctions and community corrections, institutional management and programs, supervision within the community, juvenile corrections, surveillance, justice, and force. Embedded in this course will be preparation for the guard card, entry-level employment to police private property and to maintain order at public events.
Public Safety: Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC)
Pathway I:
Air Force JROTC Year 1

AFJROTC Year 1 is designed to prepare students to become college and career ready. Three main components of the program are academic instruction, tutorial support, and motivational activities. The topics Aerospace Science History (40%), Leadership Education (40%), and Wellness Program (20%). The focus year 1 is aviation history including the development of flight throughout the centuries beginning with ancient civilizations and culminating with modernization and a brief astronomical and space exploration history. Leadership components consist of Air Force customs and courtesies. 
Pathway II:
Air Force JROTC Year 2
Recommended Prerequisite: AFJROTC Year 1

AFJROTC Year 2 is the second year of the JROTC program. This course has the same components as year 1 including Aerospace Science History (40%), Leadership Education (40%), and the Wellness Program (20%).  The focus year 2 is Aerospace Science, the science of flight. This in-depth course is designed to acquaint the students with the aerospace environment, the human requirements for flight, principles of aircraft flight, and principles of navigation. Discussions include atmosphere, weather, forces of lift, drag, thrust, and weight. Students also learn basic navigation including map reading, course plotting, and effects of the wind. Leadership component consists of listening and speaking skills as well as basic leadership.
Pathway III:
Air Force JROTC Year 3
Recommended Prerequisite: AFJROTC Year 2

AFJROTC Year 3 is the third year of the JROTC program. This course has the same components as year 1 including Aerospace Science History (40%), Leadership Education (40%), and the Wellness Program (20%).The focus year 3 is Aerospace Science, the exploration of space. This indepth course is designed to acquaint the students with the space environment discussing solar system, space programs, space technology,and manned space flight including developing field of space law. Leadership component consists of philosophy and ethics as well as fundamentals of financial, personal, and stress management.
Pathway IV:
Air Force JROTC Year 4
Recommended Prerequisite: AFJROTC Year 3
Grades: 12

AIR FORCE JROTC Year 4 is the culmination of the previous three years of Air Force JROTC. This course includes an emphasis on Management of the Cadet Corps or Aerospace Careers and a focus on global awareness and how it affects all aspects of our lives. In addition, this course provides an awareness of options after high school.
This course satisfies the UC/CSU “G” college preparatory requirement.
