Beaumont, CA –– Beaumont Unified School District has shown the highest advancement in ELA - English language arts and mathematics across all of Riverside County school districts based on the most recent California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress results, commonly known as CAASPP.
CAASPP is one part of the California Assessment System, which is composed of a variety of tests and assessments taken by students in grades 3 thru 8, and grades 11. The CAASPP measures student knowledge and skills in English language arts/literacy, mathematics, science, and Spanish reading language arts. Additionally, it allows for parents and educators to evaluate if a child is meeting career and/or college readiness benchmarks.
Beaumont USD had a 5% year-over-year increase in the category of mathematics, and an 8% rise in English language arts. “It takes enormous work to see just a half-percent improvement, let alone, to achieve the highest growth in the entire county,” expressed Beaumont USD Superintendent Mays Kakish. “Yet, when you hire the best people, these are the outcomes you see.”
“Our success in these numbers gives our community a clear direction; now is the time to keep investing in Beaumont schools. If we keep going strong, we could become top performing school districts in the entire state of California,” added Kakish.
Beaumont USD encourages families to access their student’s CAASPP results, which can be used to start three-way conversations with the school. For example, scores can indicate areas where additional tutoring may be beneficial for a specific subject and for college-related decisions.
