The health, safety, and wellbeing of our community is a top priority. Out of full transparency, below are a few of the weather alerts and guidelines that the Beaumont Unified School District uses to make informed decisions.

Air Quality Index
We regularly monitor the air quality at and near our schools. Please refer to the widget below, to see the current air quality measurement. As a useful guide, PM2.5 refers to particular matter in the air that are smaller than 2.5 micrometers, while PM10 is particles that measure smaller than 10 micrometers.

School Outdoor Air Quality
We regularly monitor air quality and notify principals of the anticipated and/or current level with activity recommendations.

Heat Index Calculator and Chart by NOAA
The Heat Index utilizes the ambient temperature of the air in conjunction with relative humidity. This is a more reliable way of determining unsafe conditions than temperature alone. For example, a temperature of 90 degrees with 70% humidity is classified as having the potential to cause a heat related disorder after prolonged exposure or strenuous activity.
To determine the Heat Index, use the chart below or the online calculator available on the NOAA website.
National Terrorism Advisory System
The National Terrorism Advisory System is designed to inform the public about current risks. If there is an advisory, it will be displayed in the NTAS widget below.
The above widget is provided by the Department of Homeland Security, a U.S. government agency.
