Emergency Communication

During an emergency, communication is critical. If an emergency occurs at or near your child's school, you may be notified through the ParentSquare app. You may also receive information via the Beaumont Unified School District Facebook page or by phone.

Below are steps we encourage you to take now––

  • Download the ParentSquare app on your phone
    • Set "accept push notifications" and change notification settings to "instant."
  • Update School Emergency Contact information
    • We encourage you verify your emergency contacts annually with the correct person and phone numbers.
  • Familiarize yourself with the District's "emergency protocols."

Important Emergency Protocols

Lock-Down Protocol

A lock-down protocol may be initiated when there is a threat inside the school or facility. All students and staff "barricade" themselves inside an enclosed space. No person, including students and staff, are allowed to enter or leave their location until the threat is removed or determined not credible.

DO NOT call your child or the school during a lock-down. This can put individuals at an increased risk in certain situations. No visitors will be permitted on campus except emergency responders. Your arrival to the school will not be permitted and may jeopardize first responders actions.

Hold and Secure Protocol

A hold and secure protocol may be initiated when there is a threat outside of the school or facility. All building entrances are locked and no person is permitted to enter or leave the building. No visitors will be permitted on campus except emergency responders.

Shelter in Place Protocol

A shelter in place protocol may be initiated when there is a threat outside of the school or facility such as a "gas leak" or "tornado." No person is permitted to leave the building.

Evacuation Protocol

When there is a threat that requires the school to leave the building or campus, an "evacuation" is ordered. Families will be notified of the safe location their child is located.

On Alert Protocol

On alert protocols may be initiated when there is information of a potential threat and an elevated safety protocol may need to be implemented. Students and employees continue their normal activities, but exercise situational awareness and  ensure they are prepared for further actions, if necessary.
