Performing Arts
Pathway II:
Theater I and II

These courses introduce beginning students to the art of developing a character, within the various theatrical genres, through graduated floor exercises and beginning acting assignments. These include mime, group scenes, and monologues. Students are also introduced to various skills of technical theatre such as scene design and construction, sound and optic effects, beginning costume and make-up.
 
This course satisfies UC/CSU "F" college preparatory requirement. 
Pathway III:
Advanced Theater

This course focuses on the “behind the scenes” components of a production. These include stage lighting and sound, stage design and scenery construction, backdrops, usage of microphones and counterweights, set safety, back-of-the-house management. This course provides hand-on experience during productions put on in the theater. Students will be required to work some after school and weekend plays. See contract for outlined time requirements.

Design, Visual and Media Arts
Pathway I:
Digital Media Production
 
Recommended Prerequisite: Multimedia I and / or teacher's authorization

This one-year, introductory course will allow students to gain a wide-range of graphic design skills in Adobe Photoshop, Premier, Bridge and Encore. Students will receive training in graphic design concepts such as: managing layers, proper file formats, editing photos, blending through layer opacity/transparency and modes, optimizing designs for use on the internet or in publications, text creation and effects and text paths. Still-frame animation will be introduced in this course. All students will learn how to brainstorm projects that include scripts and storyboards and incorporate concepts such as planning, filming, editing, and producing their own short films/projects in Adobe Premier. All students are required to spend time outside of class filming/photographing material for the Senior Video, which is the culminating project for this course.
