Shawn Mitchell
CURRENT TERM 2020-2024
Although I am the newest member of the Beaumont Unified School District Board of Education, elected in November 2020 to represent Trustee Area 1, I have been part of the school District for over 24 years.
I arrived in Beaumont in 1996 when I was hired as Assistant Principal of Mountain View Junior (now middle) High. Over the years, I took on numerous administrative positions in the District, including being the Principal of Chavez Elementary School from 1998 to 2002, the first Principal of Three Rings Ranch Elementary School from 2002 to 2007, and the first Principal of Tournament Hills Elementary School from 2007 to 2009. In July 2020, I retired from Beaumont USD as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.
In addition to my service to Beaumont USD, I have been an active member of the community. I served as a Board member for the Beaumont Library, a member of the Beaumont-Cherry Valley Rotary Club, and numerous roles as a member of the St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church. I also participated in and helped organize the Beaumont Spirit Run in past years.
Through my years with Beaumont USD, I saw many of our students grow up, graduate from high school, and lead successful lives and careers. That includes three of my own children who graduated from Beaumont High School. I look forward to continuing to help lead the education in our growing school District for the success of our students.
