Beaumont Salary Increase Update
BEAUMONT NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE
We are excited to share that in January 2023, a salary increase of 12.5% went into effect for certificated, classified, confidential, and management staff.
The Board of Trustees also approved a one-time compensation increase of 6.25%, off the schedule, based on each team member’s annual salary, effective July 1st of 2022.
We are facing some challenging economic times and must remain regionally competitive regarding salaries and health benefits packages.
The 12.5% salary increase is the highest implemented in the recent history of the Beaumont Unified School District, and among the highest in Riverside County for the 2022-23 school year. The starting salary for a new teacher will increase from $54,000 to $60,000 dollars per year.
For teachers with more than 20 years of teaching experience, who are in the final step of the last column of the salary schedule, compensation will increase from $111,000 to $125,000 per year.
The agreement also includes language regarding student attendance and raising the District’s overall attendance rate. As we all know, the pandemic significantly impacted school attendance over the past two years. Research shows that poor attendance - especially in the early years of a student’s educational journey - can influence whether or not they will read proficiently by the end of third grade. When students improve their attendance, they also improve their academic prospects and chances of graduating. Getting our students to school is a collective effort. Therefore, included in the agreement, any increase in the Districtwide student attendance rate, above 95%, by the state’s P-2 reporting period in April 2023 will be applied towards the health and welfare benefits package of employees in the 2023-24 school year.
The Beaumont Unified School District and the California School Employees Association - Chapter 351 reached a comparable tentative agreement.
